Father Subeesh O ‘Praem Kalappurackal hails from Kerala, India and is a Norbertine Father. He has a passion for cricket and can always be seen at the annual Fish Hoek vs Kommetjie parishes cricket challenge. We might add that apart from being an excellent cricket player he also has an incredibly strong competitive nature! He is known to sing local songs, in Afrikaans, at the top of his voice whenever his team hits a six or bowls a fellow competitor. As he would say, “All is fair in the game of cricket.”
Apart from being the Dean for the Parishes of the Peninsula Deanery, he is also the parish priest at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fish Hoek and St Brendan’s Catholic Church in Sun Valley. Most of his homilies are introduced by a joke with his parishioners eagerly awaiting his teachings for the day. He is certainly not afraid to call you by name and ask you a question during his homily.
He has taught at schools and worked with children living on the streets. He identifies well with children, having a calming and gentle approach to their questions, fears or uncertainties. He takes everything in his stride and has a solution for every problem – prayer and faith – and of course a little bit of nudging in the right direction!
He is looking forward to meeting our groups, members and families that have been helped by St Kizito.
We have no doubt that Father Subeesh is the perfect choice as our Chaplain and look forward to having his incredible wisdom and teachings available to our Movement.
